40 miles of bad road by Albert Lee

One of my favorite guitarists. Miles beyond Clapton in my opinion. And he is so clean, as well as fast.

1. Albert is very, very good. One of my favorite players...

But NOBODY is miles beyond Clapton. A few feet, maybe. Clapton's playing is very emotional and intense, and he has mastered many genres, and is one of the truly great electric blues players. AND he's a great singer.

Clapton was the biggest influence on me way back when I was sixteen. And 17, 18, 19, 20, 21....

As to Clapton versus others, we all have our favorites.

3. Albert Lee's range is exceptional. Here he is with The Hot Band...

with Emmylou on the Old Grey Whistle Test in '77

Albert has some great moments as do the rest of the ensemble. And of course Emmylou just mesmerizes. This is such a great set of music all around.

And I would never compare Lee to Clapton. They are in entirely different classes.

Eric Clapton is a rock star.
Albert Lee is a guitarist's guitarist.
