Immediately she became hysterical realizing her cat was still inside. Hours later as the fire dept was leaving, a fireman came to her with her cat wrapped in stained towel. He told her I am sorry we couldn't save it, but if it's any consolation, he died quickly and wasn't burned. You can open the towel, his face is peaceful.
She was so upset and it felt like only a block of ice so she didn't open it. She took it with her to another friends house, planning to deal with the burial the next day. She awoke suddenly sometime later, believing she was having a trauma induced nightmare because she smelled smoke and felt water dripping on her. Nope, it was kitty.
I believe they really do have 9 lives.

He was lying in a sun-spot on the living room floor and if any animal looked dead, he was. I called my wife over, we both kneeled over his body and began to recall the happier days with him, his kitten years and the joy he gave us over the 14 yrs. we had him. Tears were flowing as we both put our hands on him to give him a final pet good-bye.
Then the little asshole awoke looked at both of us and walked over to another sun-spot.

I have a cat who does that to me: elderly, deaf as a stone, chronic renal failure, with arthritis and a heart murmur. She is so still and breathes so slowly when she's asleep that she's scared me to death more than once.

I live in Ontario Canada.

One very cold winter day about 10-12 years ago I went out to my woodshed to get some wood for the stove...

This is a shed that is about 20 ft from the house...

I open the door and see this clump of fur on the ground...no floor in the shed, FYI.

I can't believe my eyes - It's a little kitten...

I go to pick it up..and I swear this is true...he was frozen to the ground. I thought, I have to get this dead cat out of here and give it a proper burial.

I had to very delicately pry it from the frozen ground - I didn't want to have it's fur come off or anything gross like that.

I finally got him free. He was ROCK hard. Literally. You could rap your knuckles on him it sounded like rapping your knuckles on a chalkboard...he was frozen solid. I'll never forget that sound...

I start looking him over in my arms...and...wait..did I just see what I think I seen? Is that his little chest moving up and down? Why, yes, it was...he was still breathing..somehow.

I immediately brought him into the house. Grabbed a big old comfy blanket and wrapped him in it like a ball. I took one of those little electric heaters and turned it right on the blanket/kitty ball and went to work....

All day I am thinking about this little kitten...will he be alive when I get home?

I get home, open the door and to my surprise the big ball of blanket/kitty is open and the kitten is nowhere to be seen...

I finally found him sleeping under my bed. Coaxed him out with some food - he ate like a champ. After a few days he was fine...

I couldn't have yet another cat - I've rescued too many and already had 2 - for some reason, A$$holes like to drop off their unwanted animals in my neck of the woods.

My neighbour took him. He grew into the most beautiful Maine Coon cat I had ever seen. He was HUGE. My neighbour had 2 great danes and a Newfoundlander - this cat was the boss of them all...he had no fear and loved snuggling with his doggy friends...

Yes..they do have nine lives.

Our late Cinnamon was nearly identical and tossed out of a car at 44 below. We came on her soon after (thank Bast) and she was with us almost 20 years.

Any nonhuman who does this should be given the same treatment, and NOT rescued.
