Just pick it up and put it into the water. You can grab them by picking 'em up 1/2 way
between the front and hind kegs.

Put it down on my woods and in an hour or so it had headed down the hill to the stream.

and their squirming and long claws make it a real challenge. My hands were torn up for a month after my last encounter. Decided to carry gloves in my car after that. Can’t leave em to get hit on this fast street, they’re close to being an endangered species.

Just the luck of the draw, but same impulse to save, right? Last time I did it was at the start of rush hour, and it was a bit uncomfortable holding up 3 lanes of traffic, my car with flashers on, it’s so awkward and cumbersome holding this heavy creature away from your body as it’s clawing at your hands and arms while you’re trying to be quick about carrying it off to safety. Probably looked pretty comical, in a way.

If I can’t handle a rescue myself, I’ll block the turtle with my car and another kind person will stop and lend a hand.
