(27,820 posts)Marianne Faithful's version was the Top Ten hit.
If there are a few more votes for it via replies, I still might put it up there.

(27,820 posts)I'm tempted to take down either Jumpin' Jack Flash or Brown Sugar to make room for it, since those are the only poll choices with zero votes.

(27,820 posts)I took down Jumpin' Jack Flash, the only one with no votes, to make room for it.

(27,820 posts)I'll add it to the Honorable Mentions list...Great song!
Miles Archer
(18,837 posts)...the one I keep going back to is "Soul Survivor" from "Exile."
Classic Keef riff, some slide that I assume is from Mick Taylor, and some of Jagger's most clever lyrics (and one of his best vocals).
From your list, my pick would have to be Jumpin' Jack Flash.

(17,493 posts)You learn something new and interesting everyday.
The history of Sympathy for the Devil is interesting.
The Rolling Stones' darkest hit Sympathy for the Devil turns 50 after five decades of being blamed for a murder, a studio on fire and a whole host of other macabre events
At a music festival in California a man was killed during their set in 1969
As the Rolling Stones started performing at Altamont festival brawls broke out
A member of the Hell's Angels 'security' stabbed a man to death
Mick Jagger continued to play as he feared more violence if were to stop playing

(27,820 posts)At the 1969 Free Concert at Altamont, a U.C. Berkeley student named Meredith made the mistake of pulling out a gun after a Hell's Angel smashed him in his face.
The Hell's Angel stabbed him in the back 5 times and was put on trial for murder, but a jury found him Not Guilty (Self Defense)
There were three other deaths at Altamont, including two people who were run over by a hit-and-run driver.

(36,827 posts)For one thing it demonstrates the musical depth of the Rolling Stones minus Mick. Another is there's a good bit of history contained in the lyrics. Finally it's just a great tune.

(2,843 posts)It's in my top ten.
I know it's difficult because in my humble opinion the Stones are the greatest rock and roll band of all time.
I picked Wild Horses for the survey but I could have picked 6 or 7 others.
