1. If someone gave me healthy food, took me to the doc regularly,

and I did not have to do any work, and went for a walk on green grass with me everyday in the fresh outside air, and played with me often, I would be a good friend as well of that creature.

3. True story

My son and I are EMTs in rural Virginia, in separate counties about two hours apart.

He had a rescue call last summer just like this -- the guy's dog would not leave his side, so, my son and his ambulance crew took the dog in the ambulance with the patient to the ER where hospital security leashed the dog and cared for him until the doc said the dog could visit his owner before he went into surgery.

The new rescue lieutenant raised almighty hell with my son and his crew and filed disciplinary report on them for putting a dog in the ambulance. The county Fire/EMS director got into the act, fired the lieutenant and complimented my son and his crew.
