Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy daughter is getting a new golden retriiever in March -- so excited!
She had to put down her aging, ill golden recently and was just sick over it. But a breeder she was in contact with told her that a golden's litter was just born and she will have her female in March. She is named the dog Clementine and will be called Clemmie. She's liked the name since she saw "Darkest Hour" and remembers that Churchill's wife was named Clementine...Clemmie.
Nothing can replace her deceased dog Brady (female but named after Tom Brady) both in her affections and mine (once when I was sick Brady came to be with me in my room, so I called her my "therapy" dog). Very intuitive, these goldens.
So, happiness all around. I can't wait to meet Clemmie!
P.S. any hints on how I post a pic emailed to me on DU?

(355 posts)We put down our Lab "Sunny" a few months ago, cancer on his spine. He was so loving, always ready to play. Golden labs shed alot less also.

(44,133 posts)so I know how you and your daughter are grieving. She was 16 and a half, the canine love of my life. Loyal, loving, and a real clown who loved to make us laugh. She too was my nurse dog; she always watched over me when I was sick.
Brady sounds like a special dog. Brady had a wonderful life, full of love and joy!
I know Clementine will love her new family and home!

Once you've done it a couple of times it's easy.
Golden's are fabulous dogs. My Snowy is a golden mix and I've had both purebred and Golden mixes.
