So I have to quit drinking by tomorrow morning........

I’ve made a deal with my fiancé that I will quit the sauce as of Jan 2. This isn’t a permanent state of affairs.....i can imbibe agin once I complete three challenges......and I think I have a handle on them, mostly.

This is still going to be months....maybe longer

2. Keep hydrated

I found that I just like to DRINK-- that is, I always want something liquid nearby. So I started making lemonade and drinking that. (I'd kind of pretend it was "hard lemonade"... tasted like it!) It really helped with the transition to have a glass to hold in my hand.
It's like when you quit smoking-- it helps to suck on hard candy to keep your mouth occupied!

1........I must find and immerse myself in a hobby......something physical, not playing video games or collecting pictures....also, it has to be something I’ll want to do sober

2........I must re train my body that eating is GOOD, and not only that I have to do it at least once a day....that I should crave it at least once a day, hopefully 2 or 3 times, but we’re not shooting for the stars....yet....

3........I must got to a dentist

Just remember that supporting your fiance's wishes is more important than a momentary lapse or weakness.
Keep your eyes on the prize, and you'll be amazed at how well you can manage.

but that being said

Ice tea and any other non sugary drinks will help in social situations where others are drinking adult beverages. The substitution of other beverages will make it easier.

And I think it’s what he’s counting on too...

It was a clever gambit....and I suspect several months or longer from now once I’ve completed these tasks, my tolerance will have diminished to the level of a common mortal drunkard, not the glorious Greek Titian that my liver believes itself to be

"WHAT IS DRY JANUARY?
Established in 2013 by the UK charity Alcohol Concern, DRY JANUARY is the non profit organisations flagship campaign which has been changing the conversation about alcohol over the past number of years.

Taking part in the campaign is a chance to ditch the hangover, reduce the waistline, and save some serious £££ by giving up alcohol for 31 days."
