Wild turkeys can fly, but they mostly dwell on the ground and are not know for being graceful/agile fliers.

Front grill of my car was damaged by a flying turkey and the bird continued on its way.

We had one at work who was enchanted with the windows on our building. Until we came in one Monday morning and one of the panes had a shatter-pattern with an obvious point of impact a couple feet off the ground.
So, yeah, they can have some power when they decide to attack that other turkey in the window. I can understand the homeowners being reluctant to get within range.

That was a big effing bird and he wasn't going anyplace. I'd be tempted to call 911, too, if I saw that thing strutting around on my couch.
