Hi all! I got some Amazon gift cards (from my boss and secret santa) for X-mas and I am looking for a memory foam mattress topper. I have a horrible mattress and can't afford a new one, but for about $150-$175 I can get a mattress topper. Right now, I toss and turn all night and wake up with horrible back pain.
Just wondering if you had any recommendations. I have looked through the offerings and ratings, but would love some personal recommendations if you have any.

Zinus
Hofish
Linenspa
Are 3 brands they do feature that all have high ratings. And it is Amazon, returns are easy.

(7,220 posts)So technically you can return them, but they are extremely heavy, unwieldy and I can't imaging getting one back in the box. Which is why we just bought another one (see my post below).

Anything has to be better than what I have now, but I don't want to waste money on something that is going to be a disappointment. I slept on one at my brother's house and I was amazed at how I did not have any back pain when I woke up.

(7,220 posts)The 3" is the one I love most, but it's too soft for my husband. You literally sink into that one. (I likes me a soft bed.)
We put the 3" on another bed and also bought the 2". It's still very good and makes a huge difference on a too-firm bed.
The cost was $170 for the 2" and $215 for the 3" both in King sizes.

(63,221 posts)I have a queen sized bed so that seems like a reasonable price. Thank you!

(12,265 posts)We bought two Sertas at Kohls and they didn' t last long at all. We are looking at buying a new mattress instead of another topper, but I would pay more and get a good one if we did it again.

(7,220 posts)I got a King for about $400 on Amazon (Best Price Mattress was the brand). I like it but it was too firm, that's why we got the topper. Together, for about $600 we got an incredibly comfortable bed. I will never go back to buying $2000 innersprings again.

(31,112 posts)going to end up too firm.
Anytime you have latex involved it can end up being too firm. But like you I have a mattress AND a topper, but if I buy another mattress or when I do it will either be full foam or the old fashioned spring, latex is bouncy and not soft in my experience.

(24,369 posts)to use over the crappy sleeper mattresses supplied with the trucks my company buys.
It was worth every penny.
I bought it from Bed Bath and Beyond
Here's their website page on their mattress toppers;
https://soft-tex.com/mattress-toppers/
I've had it for a couple years now and there has been no deterioration of springback or anything, but granted I don't sleep on it every night.
The only downside is that even though it has an outer cover that has a zipper so it can be removed, it is coated inside with a material I guess will get destroyed in the wash, because the instructions said to use a damp cloth and not the washing machine.
Now again, this one is a couple years old so that feature may have changed.
Also, when I bought it, the BB&B store I went to had 3 different quality levels and this one was the middle price point, so I paid around $200 for a Twin size.

(63,221 posts)I appreciate it! I will probably order from Amazon since they will ship in a few days for free (I have Prime). I looked for this on Amazon and couldn't find it but it looks great. Also, it is a bit on the pricey side, but worth taking a look at.
Thank you!

(24,369 posts)They do have that toll free line I'm sure you saw, so yeah, I guess give them a call during the day Friday.
"HEY! Where the fuck can I buy your shit?" LOL
Googling "Soft-Tex Mattress Topper" gives the expected results, Amazon, BB&B and other retailers.
When I clicked on the Bed Bath and Beyond link, this is what I find;
https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/s/soft-tex-mattress-topper
Which of course shows lots of toppers from several other manufacturers.
Are you able to get to a BB&B nearby? That way, at least you will be able to see it directly. Bear in mind though, that if you do buy one like I have, it comes in a vacuum bag, so the volume is crushed down by at least 50%. The store I bought mine did have on display sample units to feel.
On edit to say, My apologies, Eliot Rosewater! i thought I was replying to the OP! I didn't notice you had asked the question until I posted! My apologies that my language may have the wrong context.

(31,112 posts)Do you have experience with both by any chance?
A HERETIC I AM
(24,369 posts)and it's the only such product I have ever bought.
I'm of the mind that for the most part, you get what you pay for. So when I bought this one, the fact that I was paying a couple C-Notes for it wasn't too much of a worry because of the job I needed it for. I drive a different tractor almost every trip I take, and since sleeping in a moving truck is difficult enough (imagine trying to sleep in a constant 2.0 earthquake, with occasional jolts to 7!) I wanted to make sure that I had something I knew was going to add some comfort regardless of truck and how screwed up the mattress was (some are truly messed up - worn out, etc.).
Like I said above, they had 3 different price point/quality levels for these products and they had them all the way to California King size.
The most expensive for the Twin (that's pretty much the size of our Tractor Sleeper bunk mattresses) was $350 if memory serves and it was about an inch thicker. The one I have is about 2 1/2" or so thick.

(63,221 posts)I am desperate for a good night's sleep. I wish I could just afford a whole new mattress and box spring, but that's not in the budget.
Happy New Year!
