(149,724 posts)It doesn't matter what the season is. If you're cold, turn on the heat.
And rain is good!

(131,174 posts)that's because its IMMEDIATELY TREATABLE, doesn't hang on like the flu.
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)painful.
she said once you get it, it seems to be recurring.
my son got it a couple years ago. i had always said.... NO STREP in our house, lol
and he brings it in.
he has had it like three times since.
the other three of us have never gotten it, not allowed.
actually i dont believe in the flu either. NOT allowed.
about the only thing is a cold.
hey.... you asked for this conversation, lol.
but yes, once you realize it is strep.... even though i understand it hurts so bad..... it is easily treatable.
elleng
(131,174 posts)reminds me of when our kids were KIDS, and I HOPED for a positive strep test! Knew she'd be done with it in 1-2 days. I got it once, I think.
BAD if not treated, but plain old 'tonsilitis' much worse as it lasts FOREVER, and forever w a miserable kid is MISERABLE!
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)Geeez, people make into such a deal. Here in Texas they make it into death. I had tonsilitis often as a kid and had to have tonsils removed. Lmfao. That is funny.
elleng
(131,174 posts)AND the CURE was when the doc said, 'one more time, we'll have to remove your tonsils.' NEVER had it again!!!

(102,404 posts)I used to feel colder in 40-50 degree wet weather in the South and East, than I almost ever do out here.
Turn on your heater. The weather can be so changeable anymore that I keep a space heater and conversely a small evaporative cooler and a fan--tucked away but readily pulled out as needed.
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)only needed the heat for a couple hours. with stone house, it keeps cold in, even if not so cold out.

(21,020 posts)where our pellet stove came on in June because it was so cold and damp here.
Hey, like someone else said...who cares what the calendar says...if it's cold it's cold.
One of the things that makes me crazy is seeing people running around in sandals (no socks) and shorts, etc. on very chilly late spring days. I wear socks all year long. Well maybe that's just because I have Raynauds and it creeps me out to see others with no socks because my own feet and hands are so sensitive to lower temperatures.
But especially when it's cool out.
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)my kids have pretty much worn me out on that one.

(110,159 posts)you guys are much worse, but last summer with 110.... it would be after midnight and just breaking 90.
i hated it.
i was telling kali, i was born and lived in az the first 9 yrs. fry eggs on the pavement. see who could stand on the sweat barefoot the longest and take sweaters with us in the summer cause the theaters were so cold.

(426 posts)It's been hot enough to turn on the cooler, since late April. Unusual, even for this area. We're getting July in May. Winter was mild, even though I've seen it snow here, more than once, in April. Spring was very brief....we went straight to summer.
I had the cooler on the other day, but forgot I hadn't turned off my propane heater pilot light. The inside temperature dropped enough to turn on the heater! For a brief moment I wondered if I could make rain in the middle of my living room!
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)It seems to have been not much of a winter for any of us. But, though I had the heat on, I do love this weather. We have lots of trees. I get to pretend I am in Washington state with this rain.
I could almost live here if it keeps up.
Lived in bishop and bakersfield.... and other places in Calif., but those two would be the most similar. Actually, az probably be closer, lol.
Stay cool.

(426 posts)It's actually cooled off some today, but I'm not holding my breath it will last. I was all set to take the last blanket off my bed, but then decided I needed it last night. I didn't have to turn on the cooler today, until late this afternoon. At least we're getting a cool breeze.
Who knows, tomorrow it could...snow! Send some of that rain my way....we need it badly!
