Star Trek Discovery Season 2. January 19.

I've been a diehard fan of Star Trek since the very beginning in 1965. However, I am disappointed with Star Trek Discovery. Season 2 will be make or break with me. If they can fix this show, I'll keep watching it.

You can only get STD on CBS Access in the US (I'm not sure about Canada). TexasTowelie Dec 2018 #4

CBS is making a big bet on season 2 since they essentially had no financial risk because they negotiated a deal with Netflix outside of the U.S. for season 1. They are already over budget for season 2 and CBS to make $40M by selling four "shorts" during the fall, but nobody was willing to buy the "shorts" even at $10M.

The online gossip is that the show will likely be canceled in favor of the new Star Trek series with Patrick Stewart. The rumors for that show is that he will become a diplomat after turning down a promotion to admiral.

I refuse to pay for CBS All Access so I only saw the first episode, which was so-so. If the reruns of Discovery can be viewed from Netflix or Hulu et al, I'll probably watch; if not, then I guess I'll miss them. CBS AA just isn't worth it, imo.

I don't believe that Netflix is permitted to offer it in the US.

The first episode was so foreign that I understand why people stayed away. Most of the major characters in the show didn't even appear until episodes 3-5 so it wasn't possible to form an opinion. The second half of the season showed a lot of improvement, including plot twists regarding two characters who were not who they were initially portrayed, and a multi-episode arc where the Discovery and crew were shifted into the Terran Empire of the alternate universe. Once those changes occurred, it actually made it worth watching the earlier shows a second time to note various clues.

My suggestion would be to subscribe a week or two before the new season appears and then binge watch all of the first season. I've actually stopped subscribing to save a few dollars, but I kept CBS All Access during the summer to watch another one of the shows. It's worth the subscription to me since I don't have cable or a TV.
