The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe new addition to our pet family came home today.
I bought two parakeets. As I released them into their cage I realized my mistake.
The bar spacing is too wide. I quickly grabbed a mesh mosquito net that is designed to hang over the umbrella of a picnic table and secured it in place.
One of the keets tried no less than 6 time to escape.

(3,268 posts)I had to twist tie all the doors and feeder accesses and found him several times with his head caught between the bars. My personal favorite was when I looked and couldn't see him. Checking closer I found he was UNDER the gravel paper on the bottom of the cage on his back and trying to wiggle somewhere to freedom....

(72,300 posts)We've lost too many friends, family and pets over the past 3 years.
I was becoming far too depressed. I need a challenge that makes me smile.
Thank you for the laughable tale of your budgie.

(72,300 posts)The yellow one just follows along. An angel in disguise looking back at me so sweetly.
I'm having a good time.
With extra time to enjoy them.
Tomorrow's job was canceled/put-off-for-2-or-3 weeks.

(72,300 posts)I spent an entire day wrapping galvanized fencing around the cage.
But it was worth the pain because the budgies are safe and happy.
The computer I used with my camera quit working. I haven't tried to have it repaired so pictures are out of the question for now.
Lucky me. Happy little birds brighten up our home.
