(5,075 posts)I love the box decorations/toys that the big cat sanctuaries make for their lions and tigers to shred. For some reason, I never thought of doing it for my own little panthers. (Maybe I don't want to clear up the mess afterwards?)
I've given up house decorating because, you know, cats. But I could get behind this method!

(359 posts)we built something like this for two "teenage" lions they had at the center. We scented it with catnip. Yep, even big kitties, apparently, like their catnip. I have videos of the lions tearing it apart. Then one or the other would get a whiff of catnip and start rolling around on the ground.
In many ways, "little panthers" are not far removed from their big cousins.

(5,075 posts)Lots of resemblance...differences are often a matter of scale. A sanctuary near me allows walk-throughs, but near the front is posted a crumpled, pierced steel bucket...a tiger's toy. It gives a bit of emphasis to the "Do not try to touch the animals" sign.

I really liked the gingerbread house idea for homes with kitties who can't stay away from Christmas trees. Never had the problem with our cats trying to climb the tree, but our ginger one loved to get under the tree among the presents

(43,352 posts)came past my house last night. Screaming, hollering ... I really can't decide if it was a feral house cat, or a bob cat. Seriously. I didn't get a look at him, it was midnight. But I am thinking bob cat because he was active at night. Could hear him coming 150 feet away.
Thought this thread an appropriate place for my tale.

Know what I mean?

(43,352 posts)The cat was screeching and traveling fast. Came up to the house and growled a bit. I turned on the outside light, it went. Didn't seem to make a lot of noise on the way out. Maybe it was attacked by another animal. There are racoon, opossum, snakes, fox, deer here.
I listened to some feral cat screeches on Youtube. I think the one last night was a bit lower in pitch. Not a lot, or it could mean nothing, the window was closed.

(2,674 posts)The coyotes got the feral cat mom's first litter, we got the second litter of 4. A bout 2 weeks ago, she brought up 3 little snowballs.
Going to try to catch cat mommy tomorrow to take the Sunday free SPCA clinic to get fixed. I am in love with the first 4 kittens, three more is out of control.
