Depression is a horrible thing

Well, I just got word that a former boss of mine, Dan, killed himself. His small company took on a lot of debt, trying to grow, and was never able to make it work. They closed their doors last April and went bankrupt. I guess he lost everything. He left a wife and 5 children. His oldest son was at home when Dan shot himself. I guess he had life insurance that would still pay after a suicide and he saw it as the only way out. I hope it's enough for his wife to start over. He was a good guy who just made some bad financial decisions. RIP Dan.

My brother-in-law killed himself the same way. He had colon cancer and was depressed over how he was feeling. He was single without family and it was more than he could stand.

I am really sorry to hear about your former boss, my dear TexasBushwhacker. I hope his family can recover and go on.

What a sad story. Nobody should ever have to feel that they have to end their life over money. There should always be a way out from such desperation. RIP Dan.

3. Well, it's a big reminder to me about keeping firearms in the home

His business was private investigation and security. I have no doubt that he felt having firearms made his family more secure. But anyone can have a bad day, where they think their family will be better off without them. His wife had just started a new job 2 days before. He probably felt disposable. He was 49. I can't help but think that if he hadn't owned a gun, he might still be here. Nothing is as quick and effective as a gun. Nothing.

4. It is a terrible thing

Umtil I found a medication that worked i was a mess.
In and out of hospitals.
Ill be 60 next week.
At least 20 years was dealing
with that problem.
