Watched "The Conners" sans Roseanne last nite

This is a show that just needs to go away. Sad to see the ageing of John Goodman, who I think is a remarkable actor. I just think the show is - pardon the pun - beating a dead horse and it is a mistake to try to revive it.

1. It was hard to watch (and Goodman's obvious decline was even harder)... I adore him

But, the show was cringe-worthy in many respects. I had sort of wanted them to succeed against the odds, but this doesn't bode well.

Shattered into a million pieces. I loved that show from the time I was in middle school, throughout it's entire run.
I only watched one episode of the reboot, I just couldn't get into it. I'm waiting to watch the Conners with my husband tonight.
I too adore John Goodman, always have always will.

I thought it was great. A tough subject and some humor (just like the original show,)
I even teared up at the end with Darlene and Jackie.

Yeah J Goodman looks old, but hes got to be 70 now. His massive weight loss left his face sallow looking. I've never noticed his nose before, but last night it was all I could look at.

13. Few things age the face as much as significant weight loss. Ironically he'll live to look very old.

Not a good incentive for those trying to lose weight...you'll live longer and feel better, but there's a price to pay in what it does to your face. It's much worse for women, who already face societal pressure to look young, and for whom aging is considered a shameful thing.

Sad but true.

to get some plastic surgery for that slack skin. But he's never made his money playing leading man types, so he probably doesn't care. Roseanne lost a lot of weight as well and I'm sure she's had PS.

but when he defended Rosanne I was finished. I didn't like that show the first time around.

I know it's not funny because a lot of people are addicted. But what a fitting demise for that bag of shit.

Character and a lady in Roseanne's pill-swapping club that re-iterated how people have to do shady things to get the meds that they need...

they handled the opioid angle well.
And all the other actors are better than her. She made me cringe.
Goodman, for an old guy, handled his grandson's identity very well.

John Goodman turned 66 in June but looks older and seemed to be sad, sad, sad beyond the sadness of his character. I've always watched the show and I still will. I don't miss Roseanne; I think it's better without her, especially since it removes her platform for spouting political insanity.
