Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI just ordered Fun Dip and Nerds Ropes to hand out on Halloween...
we get a mix of little kids and some older teens. In years past, I liked to give the older kids big candy bars and the little kids things like candy bracelets or Laffy Taffy. But it's too hard to explain who gets what to my spouse. And we never know how much to give out when we give out little pieces of candy. I try to do the handing out myself but sometimes I am cooking or visiting with the kids across the street. I don't have a door buzzard.
Anyway, with Fun Dip and Nerds Ropes, you just toss one or the other into the bags. No thinking and generally no allergies since it's just pure sugar.
What are you giving out?

(23,322 posts)for the parents who dont want their little tiny kids to have those, I always have bags of Pirates Booty as an alternative. Mini bottles of Boo!ze for parents who brave my front porch. My favorite holiday hands down.

(62,444 posts)Sometimes the parents complain. We usually tell them, "You come to our door for free stuff, you get what we're giving out."

(86,647 posts)I dislike this door to door pandering under a false pretense. I don't hand out anything, but usually I live waaaay off the beaten path which deters such things.

(16,334 posts)party with the neighbors, often dinner around a fire pit, kids bobbing for apples, etc. Now it's sort of catch as catch can. If the neighbors are around, we sit outside and hand out candy in the street and talk about all the fun our kids had when they were little.

(15,384 posts)I've been wanting to save my veggie cans (which I would open the bottom with a can opener that cuts from the side if I did this). That way, I could clean out the inside and put in a small bag of M&Ms or a few fun-sized bars and a business card (I'm a children's entertainer) before gluing the bottom back on. I wonder though how many people would actually open them so it might not be worthwhile, but while maybe while not being magical, it would be strange to open a can (so many of them have pull tabs now) and find candy, especially if they didn't examine the can too closely.
