Holy shit. 445 views in the first two hours. Private messages by the dozens. Who knew white bunk beds would be in such demand! One appointment set up and they already cancelled. Somebody coming tomorrow but will they show up? This is crazy.

(4,670 posts)They had been stored in a garage before. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so we'll have to cover with a tarp. You're right about being careful; I hate giving out my address and will make sure I'm not alone when they come. Another thing women have to think about that men don't.

My daughter in law has gotten wonderful baby clothes and items. We once got ten bottles of pretty decent wine from someone who was remodeling and just didnt have space. Im about to get rid of several things. I dont want the trouble of selling them and people have to pick them up.
Its fun just to watch the interactions too.

(20,214 posts)Personally, I'd rather have my weekend than try to set up a garage sale and make a couple hundred bucks. After my mother died, I freecycled a TON of stuff. I gave all her VHS movies, including lots of classics, to a film student at UT. I freecycled her gas dryer because I knew any apartment I moved into would have only electric connections. Then I requested an electric dryer and someone gave me one!
We have a Furniture Bank in Houston where you can donate gently used furniture. Normally people have to be referred by an agency in order to go "shopping". The provide furniture for a lot of formerly homeless folks, refugees,
women who have escaped abusive relationships and people who've lost everything to a fire or flood. But after Hurricane Harvey anyone could go there. They would only let a certain number of people "shop" per day and they could only get a limited number of items though.
Craigslist has a free section too.
