Maverick was the 85th most popular male baby name in 2017.

https://www.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/popularnames.cgi

Wow, that's just dreadful. I have a hard picturing an adult male named "Maverick" and him not being a massive douchebag. This is the kind of garbage name I'd expect Trump-supporting numbnuts with masculinity issues to call their sons. Why not just call the kid "Cowboy" or "Warrior" while you're at it? Awful.

This is what happens when I'm bored and have nothing better to do. Thank you for listening.

Still hate the name, but congrats.

I'm just thinking about a 35-year-old man in the future named "Maverick J. Anderson" and my brain isn't accepting it.

His dad's first name was 'Dallas', but everyone called him 'Buddy'.
When a son was born, they named the son "Buddy De" ____.

It's on his birth certificate, driver's license, etc.

My local library is Maury Maverick, Jr Library. It is also my polling place!

His great-grandfather was the original "Maverick" who came to Texas. The great -grandfather was a rancher and politician.

I am so tired of that name. Madison is the capital of Wisconsin, FFS. Would you name your kid Albuquerque? Boise? Topeka? Montpelier?

If you pronounce the middle syllable like the model Helena Christensen does and not like the capital of Montana.

And who wouldn't want to name their baby Santa? He or she would be destined to bring happiness and joy to the world.

...some really unfortunate name choices that are going to be a pain in the ass for a kid throughout life. Why saddle your child with a name that is hard to pronounce properly?

Years ago, one of my little patients was named Jerome - at least, that's how his name was spelled. His mother pronounced it Jeremy - Jer-o-mee. I would lay a few bucks that no one ever got it right the first time.
