I was watching the funeral for the Great Aretha Franklin

and saw the touching tribute from Smokey Robinson... who I hadn't thought of that many times in the last decade.

And then I remembered that he was a legend by the time the Tom Tom Club released this song in 1980.



Man, that made me feel old.

So I had to dig it up on the internet and play this tribute to the funk and blues kings and queens of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

The "tribute" is nearing 40 years old now.
