Some people on the radio were talking about this as in things you shouldn't do in front of other people. Just curious as to who uses one and why.

(15,383 posts)It's supposed to clear off gunk from your tastebuds so you can taste full flavors again. I can't remember if it worked or not.
I do remember a whole day in elementary school dedicated to proper oral hygiene. We were bussed (along with a lot of other kids) to a large convention center, a local TV personality did a magic show, we were given toothbrushes, paste, floss, and those horrible-tasting pills that you chew that then supposedly show you where you missed brushing. There was a Peanuts short that Schulz had done for these events with Charlie Brown explaining how to properly brush your teeth, and he included brushing your tongue, which is easy for a cartoon character but not so much fora real person.

(15,383 posts)I brushed just my two front teeth for 3 or 4 minutes, flossed in between them and on both sides. Ate a pill, bared my teeth, and lo and behold, red gunk on them just like everywhere else in my mouth. Never used them again.

(16,786 posts)I also use a tongue scraper and brush it as well. Bacteria settles on the tongie, gets into the gums, and bad breath ensues. I avoid that.
