(6,262 posts)Found the show on Acorn and loved every minute. Brenda Blethyn is a treasure.
Her best was an older movie "Saving Grace" where she is a new widow finding out all sorts of unsavory things about her passed husband. Penniless and forced to save her manor and grounds and prize-winning orchid production, she makes a deal with her gardener and goes into the marijuana biz.
A classic. Sweet and hilarious. Beware - there are other films using the same title - look for her name in the cast.
Haven't seen it on Acorn or Netflix etc., but if I do, will gladly enjoy it again.

(63,221 posts)It is one of my all-time favorites. I especially love the scene of the two old women getting high in the store while the agent comes to ask them about Grace. One of my favorite scenes!
I would highly recommend the movie if you have never seen it!

(10,749 posts)Try these. Basically other British police procedurals:
Hinterland - based in Wales
Shetland - based in Shetland
No Offence - based in Manchester
New Blood - can't remember where -- very funny
Still police procedural but on the lighter side:
The Coroner - southern England, Devon coast
Midsomer Murders (of course) - Cotwsolds, I think. Going on 20 seasons.

Another great show on PBS is Grantchester, about a very handsome young vicar(James Norton) who loves Sidney Bichet and whiskey and helps to solve crimes with his friend, detective Keating. Filmed in Cambridgeshire.
