Crunchy, sweet, lightly salted. Interesting. I'm not likely to eat it again, though, as I can't find my Southerner's ID card to legally purchase this deli item at Publix.

OP
Sounds like a tasty corn fritter, which is on my weekend menu with some fried fish and slaw.

(61,695 posts)5. I don't think so. Corn fritters are dry inside, made with corn meal.
This was wet, hot, and creamy, as if creamed corn had been reduced to thicken it, then someophow breaded.

(51,457 posts)9. Not my corn fritters. Mine are made with fresh corn off the cob. The dry
corn meal things sound more like hush puppies.

Since its California, I add some finely chopped poblano peppers and cilantro and serve them with Cilantro and Lime Sour Cream.
Yummy!

Corn fritters are usually made with cornmeal and are dry inside. This was wet, creamy, and sweet on the inside.

Just talk with an accent. That should do it.
