It doesn't even have a lid.

They stole it.

1. Years ago

When we were doing the final days of our hobby shop, cleaning up after the store had closed for good. We had a break in (who breaks in to a business that was no longer in business is beyond me) and they took one of our trash cans to load up soda that they also stole from us.

Ticked me off because that was one thing I planned on taking home to use.

I loved that garbage can. I lost the lid somehow years ago, so it was perfect for putting the yard waste in. Now I have to spend money for another one. It's infuriating.

take a look around the neighborhood, it might turn up or perhaps there are other options. We often just use a trash can lid to put the flower trimming on then they go into a bag for pick up.

3. I had someone "steal" a shopping cart from me once

I'd already put a few things in it. Waiting at the deli counter I left it to go grab something else. I returned and it was gone. Didn't see my lettuce, peppers, and bananas laying anywhere. I guess they walked in, saw a cart already loaded with some of the items in their list and just figured they'd take it.

I usually tell them I can wait until they check out and retrieve my items.

8. In the news here recently

Two guys made off with a 50-gallon glass aquarium from Pet Supplies Plus .... there getaway vehicle was a motorcycle .... gee did they think anyone might see them riding down the street, two guys balancing this big fish tank on a motorcycle? ?? The cops DID get 'em but not before one guy ran off lugging the glass tank, which he dropped and broke.

They must have wanted the stuff in it. When I called the city to complain they acted like I was making a big deal out of nothing.
Then they said that I could just buy a new one, They sell them for 8 bucks. A conspiracy perhaps?

This morning I found an unfamiliar yard waste bin next to my recycling and trash bins. I posted on NextDoor and its owner came and retrieved it. A few months ago the trash guys gave mine to my neighbors but they kept it because they're dicks.
