I loved Frasier personally, so I say YAY. A reboot might not be as good as the original but I'll give it a chance.
'Frasier' Could Get Rebooted as Kelsey Grammer Fields Ideas for New Series

Add Frasier to the list of beloved 1990s shows to potentially get the reboot treatment.
CBS TV Studios and Frasier star/executive producer Kelsey Grammer are in the very early stages of discussion for a possible follow-up, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
CBS Studios declined comment.
Frasier, a spinoff of Cheers, aired for 11 seasons on NBC from 1993-2004. The show racked up 37 Emmy wins, including five straight for outstanding comedy series, over its lifespan. The series finale had Frasier leaving Seattle for Chicago, where he had followed his girlfriend, Charlotte (Laura Linney), in hopes of reuniting with her, while other members of his family moved into new phases of their own lives.

(7,400 posts)I actually think a "Cheers" or "Barney Miller" reboot might work. Those shows could be done with new characters, IMHO. "Frasier" not so much.

Love the characters, even tho Frasier was a narcissistic, pretentious asshole.

Let shows retire gracefully. What's next a M*A*S*H reboot?
General dislike of reboots aside I really don't know how Frasier made it that long.
It followed the Seinfeld formula: Take a cast of unfunny actors led by an equally unfunny star, give them loads of cash and somewhat competent writers and POOF! a 90's sitcom is upchucked to rave reviews.
Nay.

(20,220 posts)Hollywood can be so lazy, giving us "reality" programs and reboots instead of original, scripted dramas and comedies. When they do give us something new, if it doesn't have stupendous ratings in the first 5 to 10 episodes, it gets cancelled before it can find its audience.

(2,437 posts)We had to put up with Roseanne glorifying the orange asshole and Grammer will do the same thing.
Check out his movie "American Carol." It's filled with right wing lunacy.

(206,221 posts)The supporting characters were all exceptionally good, but people tuned in to see Tom Selleck. He really was the show.

(206,221 posts)And he's definitely moved on to other things. My mother was his Sunday School teacher so we always watched at my house! I was going to say that Niles was the "breakout character," but everyone in that series did pretty well. I know that Kelsey Grammer may have crazy RW views, but he was funny in the show and became personal friends with David Pierce who is "one of us." David's Mom passed away at the local hospital and Kelsey Grammer's name is on the wall of donors because he donated in David's mother's name.
And that was one of the few comedy series that had all likable main characters. Frasier and Niles could be infuriating, but they were funny and they ended up doing the right thing. The writing was also exceptionally good. Without the original cast who worked so well together, it wouldn't be the same. The Dad was terrific and I read once that the pup Eddie got more fan mail than anyone else on the show!
