Herself and I will be grandparents early in the new year.
Other than yet more unnecessary proof that we're old people, we are thrilled!

It's G-Daddy for me! (Herself hasn't settled on a grandparent name yet but she has time.)

(13,873 posts)I had my first grandson 13 years ago. They asked what I wanted to be called, and since my Dad had died earlier that year I suggested the name all of my kids had called him, which was simply Granddaddy.
By the time my grandson was talking it was obvious that he had decided to shorten the name, and so "G-Daddy" stuck. My two younger granddaughters also use that.
Suits me, although it is odd for a 66 year old white guy to have a name that sounds like a rapper.

I suspect between now and January, I will lay-in a supply.
