I went out today with one mission only: to replenish my supply of bags of hard candy.
How do you know that you've officially become your parent/grandparent?

(18,319 posts)I guess they had to keep the pockets free for the giant rosary beads.
Do you think that saying "kleenex" instead of "tissue" is another sign that we're getting up there in years?

(9,197 posts)but she did the same thing with Kleenex. As she would say "That's all to it!"

(1,233 posts)Got in my car this morning and noticed it sitting in the passenger seat. My first thought was, What is Grannys pocketbook doing in my car?
My grandmother has been gone for almost ten years. Tales of the things she used to pull out of her pocketbook are legendary.
Im not sure what compelled me to buy this. I only carry my phone case, usually. Definitely a sign that I am becoming her....

(26,289 posts)That's from my Mom. And, as soon as I break into the big, jumbo pack of paper towels or toilet paper, I put it on my 'to buy' list. That's from my Grandmother.
And to put it back yet another generation, I have been known to 'cast spells' on people who really annoy me - that would be from my Great-Grandmother. I fear going back any further than that!!

my son and daughter dropped me off somewhere, and it took me forever to get out of the backseat of the car.
I turned to them and said, Sweet Jesus, I just turned into my grandmother, a woman who took so long to extricate herself from a vehicle, you could learn a second language during the process.
The thing is that during this exercise, my grandmother would stick her tongue out and move it from side to side until she was firmly back on terra firma. Im not quite there yet but I have a sinking feeling Im heading in that direction.
