don't know much about soccer, but read this guy Messi is best player ever.

the only other big name that come to mind is Pele. where does he stand?

Pele was the best player of his era. Ronaldo & Messi are widely considered to be the best players of this era. Some prefer one, some the other.

At any rate, they're both out of the tournament.
