The old fashioned drugstore soda fountain kind with a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate and a healthy dose of chocolate syrup. Doused in NOT SWEET fizzy water (seltzer?)

So I went into the local ice cream factory type store and asked for an ice cream soda. They only do floats;well I don't want a float. Everybody does floats it seems.

I started a major internet search around Fort Worth for a real honest to gosh soda place. Nada. Zip. Zero. Unless there is a place around here which just doesn't show them on the online menu.

When I was in Phoenix I found one but we never got over there.

Are there any suggestions for what kind of fizzy water would work at home? I'm thinking I might get a close imitation with Topo Chico which is the fizziest.

9. Seltzer is what you need.

You may find it in the liquor department of your local market or a liquor store. Be sure the bottle is labeled “seltzer” and not “sparkling” or “tonic”. Good luck!
