1. For two days the bird made noise in the wood stove pipe.

The three cats were freaked. I went up on the roof, (2 stories), and lowered a cord down the pipe,
with a spark plug socket on the end, hoping the bird could climb out. No luck. The poor thing was stuck.
So I got my screw gun out and took the stovepipe apart. There it was, on the damper, a curved-bill
thrasher. I pulled it by the tail until I got hold of it. Then I took it outside to where I feed and water the
birds. Watching the bird in your hand made me think of this. Watching from my window, I saw thrasher
drink and drink.
