(102,357 posts)For me, "Fear" was always the weak spinoff, but I thought it had promise with the cross over with Morgan
Kim Dickens (Madison) may not be my favorite actress and character, but I thought she held the show together and after losing her husband's character last year, and her son an episode ago, to kill her off just feels ridiculous and manipulative.
I'll watch the Walking Dead, but not so sure about "Fear" anymore...

(12,047 posts)The whole time jumping on Fear this season was confusing, but I see now, a linear story would have taken out much of the mystery.
Dammit! - mom never made it out of the stadium! - this whole half of the season she was already dead - that explains things, the feral action of Alicia, etc
They were out for revenge from the very beginning!. At least Madison never had to endure the loss of her son Nick, forgot about that too.
Fun facts: The show has literally killed off 83% of the two families that made up its core cast, and in season 3, now only has two characters that began the show in season 1, Strand and Alicia, the last remaining Clark.
...and in another stunner...
The Walking Dead Star Andrew Lincoln to Exit Next Season
R.I.P., Rick Grimes?
Andrew Lincoln is set to exit the AMC hit drama The Walking Dead during the upcoming Season 9, according to a report from Collider. Lincoln, who stars as Rick on the hit zombie thriller, will reportedly only appear in a half-dozen episodes in Season 9 before leaving the show for good.
To compensate for the loss of its primary star, AMC is reportedly preparing to offer Lincolns co-star Norman Reedus (Daryl) substantial compensation to stay with the show and assume the lead role. (AMC declined to comment when TVLine reached out for confirmation.)
Plus, Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, will be starring in the new ABC drama Whiskey Cavalier, and will only return to TWD next season on a part-time basis.

(102,357 posts)It is a little "long in the tooth", so who knows what direction it will take after losing Rick. Still, I find the casting on that show and the writing to be immeasurably better. I hated all the jumping around of time frames in FTWD this season. At first, it was interesting, then it got confusing, and finally irritating.
But, I don't get a ton of tv channels, as I have very minimal cable package, just to get DSL cheaper. For now, I still can watch AMC, so I will likely keep watching.

(10,156 posts)Nine seasons is long enough for a series. Issue is, Gimple ruined the show. Season 1 and 2 were the best ones, season 3 was meh at best. Season 4 and 5 were pretty damn good. But after they settled in Alexandria aka season 6 beyond...it got stupid...beyond stupid. Cliffhangers, character death teasing (Glenn under the dumpster) terrible focus on side characters that died within 3 episodes. The writing got terrible, the focus on the show became more about drama than survival and it just turned into lame ass puns from a dude who can probably do the limbo pretty damn good (no offense to JDM, I love the man in Supernatural) But it's just dumb now. Killing Carl off was incredibly bad writing, Morgan leaving was a poor choice, and I feel this whole season coming is just more dumb stuff. If Rick dies, show ends. Daryl might be popular, but he can't carry the show like some think he would.
Bottom line is. You can make it into a comic because it's a comic. You can create better storytelling through words and pictures. Adapting it into a hour show doesn't work in the same formula.

(12,047 posts)Maybe Negan can marry Maggie and carry on the 'Carl Legacy for Peace', call it Negan's World next season!
lol

(10,156 posts)Yeah that'd make sense considering how much the show has taken a tumble.

Come to think of it, that's how I feel about regular Walking Dead, too.

(16,334 posts)Like at the second before she is about to be eaten she shoots herself in the head so she doesn't become a zombie.
I'd mostly given up on the show as I don't do well with flashbacks. And just when I think the characters MUST have learned so much from surviving all this time, they do stupid stuff.
