(102,351 posts)thin crust.... Anyone remember Shakey's? Sort of the era of the old Shrimp Boats (yup, that was a thing) during a time Taco bells were just getting introduced (and still felt they had to offer a "bun taco" as an option)..LOL
That pizza was great though...

(102,351 posts)from a time when not all Americans had acquired a "taste" for so-called tacos and burritos. It stayed on the menu for at least a decade, though. Tasted more sloppy joe than taco, but....
On edit, I think some franchises called it a "bell beefer" but they were as I described

Pineapple does not belong on a pizza.

(12,158 posts)I say put on your pizza whatever suits you. I can't stand anchovies so I don't want them on my pie no matter how traditional. Hawaiian pizza is fine as every culture has modified the tomato pie to suit their taste. There are even Tex-Mex pizzas. But if you want to be a purist stick to the Sicilian pie, from Wiki:
Traditional Sicilian pizza is often thick crusted and rectangular, but also round and similar to the Neapolitan pizza. It is often topped with onions, anchovies, tomatoes, herbs and strong cheese such as caciocavallo and toma.[1] Other versions do not include cheese.[5][6] The Sicilian methods of making pizza are linked to local culture and country traditions,[7] so there are differences in preparing pizza even among the Sicilian regions of Palermo, Catania, Siracusa and Messina.
The sfincione[8] (or sfinciuni in Sicilian language) is a very common variety of pizza that originated in the province of Palermo. Unlike the more familiar Neapolitan pizza, it is typically rectangular, with more dough, sauce and cheese. An authentic recipe often calls for herbs, onion, tomato sauce, strong cheese and anchovies.[1] The sauce is sometimes placed on top of the toppings to prevent it from soaking into the thick dough.

(4,138 posts)At my old job, every once in awhile our boss would take us to the pizza place next door. One jackass always insisted on getting half of a Hawaiian pizza. Then he would take one slice, and then start eating the pizzas that everyone else wanted. So we always ended up with not enough actually edible pizza, and a virtually untouched pineapple pizza. And like others have said, you can't even pick it off because the juice gets everywhere. So fuck that guy and fuck Hawaiian pizza.
