(115,732 posts)like baking a cake that's either blue or pink inside so the gender is revealed when the cake is cut, or by a box full of pink or blue helium balloons that float out when a ribbon is pulled. I'm sure Pinterest has many other cutesy, twee ideas.

(9,267 posts)Gifts were not expected. But now you will know whether to buy pink or blue stuff for the upcoming baby shower. Basically the party was an excuse for everyone but the mama-to-be to get trashed.

(6,262 posts)The worst thing for a parent of a failed pregnancy is to look at all those gifts and wonder if they should be returned as they are dismantling a crib.
Once arrived, I give.

(24,006 posts)No pregnancy is normal until it is over, and I cannot imagine the agony of coming home to all the baby stuff that you aren't going to be able to use.
When our first son was still in utero I tried to convince my husband that it would be a good plan for us to pick everything out, have it held, and once the little guy had arrived safely, he could go pick it up while the baby and I were in the hospital. He didn't go for it. Fortunately, everything turned out fine, but I really would have preferred doing it my way.

(115,732 posts)Those things are just another example of over-sharing, self-absorbed people making a big deal over every damn thing they do. What's next, conception parties?
