There are lots of smaller power outages but, so far, none of the massive, city and county wide magnitude we saw in 2013. However, I'm not letting my guard down. The storm warning for Genesee County and south are still set to expire at noon but north of us it has been extended to anywhere between 4pm, today and 2 am, tomorrow. The weather map shows the edge of the icy precip is approaching but in 2013, the week long outage started about an hour AFTER the precipitation ended so, for me, this is when I feel the most tension.
Hopefully this stressful event is coming to an end so I have more energy for all of the other stress inducing events going on, right now.

(26,289 posts)This kind of weather triggers PTSD related to my encounter with carbon monoxide, the last time we had a significant ice storm and power outage.
It looks like we have one more short brush with icy precip then it all turns to rain. I haven't really slept, over the past two nights (this was a 2 day storm event) so I'm looking forward to doing something close to relaxing.

(26,289 posts)Truly weird weather.
These storms started arriving yesterday! I've prepared for everything but the head to toe body ache from being so tense, over the past 2 days. The last ice storm I went through ended up with me having carbon monoxide exposure, which explains why I've been so stressed out, this time.
Barring any last minute power outage, I predict their is a hot lavender and Epsom Salts bath in my future.

(72,381 posts)storm of '98 left us without power/heat/water for 10 days. I was 8ms pregnant and had Influenza, and hubby's mum was dying of cancer.
To this day when we get ice storns, I still feel freaked out, despite having a generator, pellet stove, and a better house than the trailer we used to live in.

(26,289 posts)And my exposure to carbon monoxide is something that pops to mind, every time we get dangerous weather. Even though I have a new generator that is even FURTHER away from the end of the house with the fireplace and a carbon monoxide detector, I can't help but to have flashbacks.
