1. That junk is speeding around Earth

Most of the junk surrounding our planet is traveling upwards of 15,000 miles per hour. Even a small paint chip or piece of hardware would be colossally destructive at those speeds.

Some scientists think that we may be leaving so much of our debris in orbit that we may make it too dangerous to get into space.
