The Dutch Were Taking Uncomfortable Portraits Before Anyone Else

https://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/dutch-studio-portraits-1970s/
One day, people in the future will look at pictures of us and laugh at how outdated our clothes look. It’s the circle of life. And nothing reminds us of this fact better than looking at pictures of people from the past, and laughing at how silly they look. Our turn will come eventually, and it’s best to embrace it.

This collection of color photographs from the Netherlands dates back to the 1970’s. They were originally lost to time, until collector Jean Paul Arends recently rediscovered them. Now, they provide a window into how studio photography looked way back in the day. Turns out, Olan Mills had a Dutch cousin who had the same knack for bringing out people’s inner discomfort.

I'm guessing the "Snow White" one is a wedding photo. 3catwoman3 Apr 2018 #1

I wonder how many women look back at their wedding dress and wedding hairstyle choices and wonder, "Dear Gawd, what was I thinking?"

I remember seeing one wedding photo in which the bride and all her bridesmaids were dressed like Holly Hobby dolls - bonnets and pinafores, and each of the at least 8 bridesmaids was in a different pastel shade of gingham. Quite memorable, and not in a good way.
