Seen this too many times when I travelled the 495 around D.C. for too many years.
Fortunately I haven't seen it!

(60,010 posts)Rural roads down here are full of speeders now, we have 2-3 traffic deaths every damn month, in a lightly populated area.
Not all of the victims are the morons who caused the wrecks, but many are, so there is that, I guess.

(17,055 posts)There's always another exit that you can get off at and then get back on going the opposite way back to the exit you wanted. Wasting a little time is worth not killing yourself and/or others.

(37,452 posts)I worry about my niece using it. But at least I now know why she goes through brake pads.
The 132-mile roadway, which runs from Daytona Beach to Tampa, has seen 1.4 deaths per mile in the last six years. It has consistently ranked among the countrys top 10 most dangerous interstates in that time period, according to an analysis by EverQuote, a service that compares auto insurance companies.

Driving my grandmother to the airport one morning on a three-lane interstate (We're in the middle lane). No traffic--it's a Saturday--just us and this other car. Dude in military fatigues, with US Army plastered all over his car (even Army license plates) in the far left lane. Near an exit, he came up from behind me, went by, but before he's completely past me, he ABRUPTLY slides over into MY lane. I was alert enough to swerve into the right lane to avoid hitting him--but then he slides into THAT lane, again with total disregard of the fact that I was there. I had to swerve again, onto the shoulder, then the exit ramp. And AGAIN he slid over, now onto the ramp. Only the fact that I had by now stood on my brakes kept me from hitting him. I blasted my horn at him (no effect, of course), then had to worry about getting my car back onto the highway. He went on his merry way down the ramp to wherever (I hope it was Hell!), totally oblivious to the carnage he had almost caused. I think it nearly gave my grandmother a coronary.
I still curse that son of a bitch (sorry, dogs....) to this day.
