Any KINKS fans here?

I posted this in the General Forum when I probably should have posted it here.

OK, so are there any Kinks fans here and do you think we could get the Kinks -- or a cover band if the Kinks are no longer recording/performing these days -- to do a remake of their song Destroyer? Assuming they're Obama supporters. (I would hate to think Ray Davies is another Ted Nugent.) Perhaps they could put it on YouTube.

in the early/mid 80s. It was the State of Confusion tour. Loved every note of that show.

If there are ROIO's of Kinks shows, I want that. The Dallas date.

Of course I'd been familiar with some of their earlier anthems (You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night) but the release of Low Budget is what really caught my attention. That album was followed up strongly with Give the People What They Want and State of Confusion. And BBC Sessions 1964-1977 is fantastic.

"A Well Respected Man"

... And his mother goes to meetings,
While his father pulls the maid,
And she stirs the tea with councilors,
While discussing foreign trade,
And she passes looks, as well as bills
At every suave young man

'Cause he's oh, so good,
And he's oh, so fine,
And he's oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
He's a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And he plays at stocks and shares,
And he goes to the Regatta,
And he adores the girl next door,
'Cause he's dying to get at her,
But his mother knows the best about
The matrimonial stakes.

'Cause he's oh, so good,
And he's oh, so fine,
And he's oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
He's a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

they seem like a pair to me.

(No doubt Mittens would think the answer is "yes" to all those questions - and would probably miss the point and actually think himself "a better man" for it too. That guy is a walking facepalm.)

Oh, Mitt, how does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?

(But instead of a zoo he keeps his millions in the Cayman Islands!)

Newt probably keeps his in the zoo.

Seen the Kinks many times and they've always put on a great show even at small venues. I guess I've listened to the Kinks as much as any other rock group and Ray, and Dave sometimes(Walking On A Thin Line), write great lyrics.
Nice new words to Destroyer. Only wish Ray would call them back to perform again since Dave has recovered from his stroke.

I never thought the Kinks got anywhere near the adulation they deserved, in comparison to the Beatles, the Stones, etc. Glad to see other fans here.

Kinks fan since 1964. After the early albums I think my favorite is "Arthur".

I like your song idea, it would be cool if they would/could do it. Well done on the lyrics!

I think Arthur is one of the most class aware albums ever made.
It is also brilliantly written and performed. Top of the Pops, for sure.

Use "Willard" instead of "Mitt" in the chorus. It works better than stretching Mitt into two syllables.

There are a few other timing issues in there that can be easily fixed but overall this is a very good parody.
