I blame the state though for not putting up "Watch for Sunbathers" warning signs.

Stupid people aside, that is actually a very significant factor in the decline of a lot of native snake species in the northern states. Blue Racers are now very rare here in Michigan. They like to bask on the warm asphalt early in the spring. Then, splot, game over.

4. My dad used to tell us Blue Racers were a mean snake that would actually chase you.

When we were kids we'd scream "Blue Racer" and everybody would take off running...
