(6,261 posts)We went through what every theme was all about and how it was all connected by the main theme, the rolling river.
It was the beginning of my understanding of and appreciation for classical music, although it took few more years to really awaken. To be fair, the teacher was a thoroughly unpleasant, snide specimen who did as much to alienate me as he did to make me appreciate the classics. I've since forgiven him as his net effect on my life was positive.

(6,261 posts)Trying to convey his passion to a group of disinterested, surly and spotty youths who were mostly dismissive of his "old people's music" and would rather be anywhere else.
I don't know if he reached anyone else, but giving even one person a lifetime's appreciation for good music puts him definitely on the side of the angels.
