Here's mine:
My Pal Foot Foot by The Shaggs (1968)
I double dog dare you to listen to the entire track. Turn up the volume!
The band is primarily notable today for their perceived ineptitude at playing conventional rock music; the band was described in one Rolling Stone article as "sounding like lobotomized Trapp Family singers."

In March 1965, a used-car salesman approached Frank Zappa, then a 24-year-old struggling musician and composer, and offered him $100 to produce a sex tape for a party. A gig being a gig, Zappa and a go-go dancer friend spent an evening recording fake squeals, grunts and bedspring squeaks onto a cassette.

(45,491 posts)so much atonal music out there. I learn something everyday here.
While not a fan of the Shaggs, we do play them from time to time at BBQs and home gatherings. Most people can't believe it.

(3,531 posts)Make me want to listen to it on lsd! Hearkens to some early Floyd albums or maybe Sid Barrets solo work.

(3,531 posts)In the Wiki article on The Shaggs their music is actually compared to the free jazz compositions of Ornette Coleman!

(1,547 posts)I paid good money to buy this CD .. and was left scratching my head.
Pat Metheny has created some of the most beautiful music that I have heard .. but this was something totally different.
Rumor has it that he had one recording left to finish his contract with Geffen.

(938 posts)I think a great way to keep things interesting is to drift in and out of tonality... Provide some musical mooring for listeners but also allow an occasional escape from tonal tyranny.
