(15,805 posts)A soft-boiled egg wrapped in a spicy sausage, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried... delicious! I copied a recipe from our local Mexican restaurant where they sometimes have a brunch special of Bacon-Wrapped Scotch Eggs with Chipotle Hollandaise, served with Chorizo Biscuits and steamed asparagus... it's even better than the original Scotch Eggs recipe.

(12,132 posts)but I can't figure out why they are always 11 or 12 bucks (and more!) in most pubs. Are they that much of a PITA to make? IS there that much sausage around them?
Granted, if I'm at the pub and ready to eat it's because I've already had enough to drink that I don't consider cost so much. But 1 just leaves me hungry so I end up needing to buy something else too.

(12,132 posts)but my wife isn't a fan of them and she always steals all the eggs for deviled eggs or scrambled eggs. I'd have to go buy them and make them before she knew and that's way more planning than I generally put into things lol.
But our local St Andrews society has pub night once a month plus my kilt group gets together with other Scottish/Norse societies pretty regularly so I get plenty of opportunity to eat them and all I gotta do is show up and pay!
