W/apologies to John Denver

Talking to a coworker about Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and started humming that old West Virginia song with these lyrics

Almost Heaven Central Jersey -Piney Goombas, Pretty decent pizza
Take the turnpike or highway 7-3
Stop at wawas for pretzels 'n' nacho cheese

Pothole roads
Take me home
to the shore
where I belong - Central Jersey - piney home

I actually love the pine forest area of New Jersey, I used to work there 5-7 weeks a year

Denver co-wrote that song with Bill and Taffy Danoff who were then working as a duo called Fat City. rsdsharp Feb 2018 #3

the woman I'm married to for 49 years this month.

Symbiotic relationship; I shop and cook and she keeps me out from under a bridge.

What Slim Pickens' character had to say about his wife in the movie The Getaway:
Ya know, if I's you kids what I'd do? I'd quit this runnin' around the country. Ya know, git a little bit a money together 'n, hell, buy a place 'n settle down 'n raise a family. I've been married for 35 years, same old gal; man she's a tough ol' hide. God dang, everything I am, I owe ta her.

Have a great day.

I grew up 14 miles from Wheeling WV, on the PA side of the border and this song was one of the bonfire/kegger sing along mainstays

The artists on the single version of "Take Me Home Country Roads" were listed as John Denver with Fat City.

The Danoffs later formed Starland Vocal Band, and Bill wrote the god awful ear worm "Afternoon Delight," which is named after the happy hour menu at Clyde's in Georgetown. (And your version of Country Roads is better than AD.)
