(45,457 posts)it's good that they stress the importance of experience and understanding the thickness of the ice for safety reasons. It's not for everyone.
I'd love to go free skating in the wild like that, on thicker ice.

(2,410 posts)Best part was that the Squamscott River had overflowed its banks, so we could literally skate through the forest, in and out of the trees. Coolest thing ever, and I've been skating for more than 50 years!

(9,667 posts)Sometimes rinks, sometimes local ponds for hockey. I like this idea of clear, cold conditions with nobody else around. BUT not a chance for me. No f'ing way. Just asking for it, IMO.
