How much coffee do you drink?

Before I retired, on workdays, I would have a 16-ounce Peet's dark roast as my pre-work ritual with some co-workers to shock my system into a full state of consciousness. Later in the morning, I would have another 12-ounce instant to make sure I didn't slip into a sleep-deprived coma. I often skipped coffee on the weekends, but I would get up late.

I used to think that the coffee maybe kept me up, but now that I'm retired I still have 2 cups at home every day (both 12-ouncers) and it doesn't affect my solid 8 hours of daily sleep. Turns out work stress was keeping me up, not coffee.

Although I'm a regular user, I never got to the point where I suffered headaches or other withdrawal symptoms when I didn't have it. I suppose that's because I like coffee in the morning and with breakfast-type foods, but I don't LOVE coffee so much that I will randomly walk into a coffee shop as I'm walking down the street at any hour of the day.

so, when I find it isn't helping anymore and assuming I'm not beyond sleep-deprived, I cut back my coffee/tea consumption (but I never eliminate it). After a week or two of lower level consumption, I find it working again.

When I am totally habituated to it, late day consumption will no longer keep me up at night, but "normally" it would...

I don't drink soft drinks, so tea and coffee are my only sources... I regularly drink the equivalent of 2-4 cups coffee/day--whether black coffee or the occasional espresso latte. I regularly drink green tea--usually iced-- throughout the day, but it contains a lot less caffeine

that horrible of a thing to indulge in( or I've missed the warnings). I drink all kinds of teas too and some like green matcha is actually a good thing . Love uber lyft in areas it was hard to get a taxi before and would support drivers by paying a little more if that's why they raised prices
and of course always tip well. I know it's a controversial business worse than coffee shops

I am also retired. The place I worked supplied Starbucks Coffee as a 'perk' and I would drink two big cups of medium roast, every morning, followed by tea at lunchtime. I rarely drink anything with caffeine after mid-afternoon so I always knew my severe insomnia (averaged 3 hour of sleep per night, for years) was work stress, as opposed to caffeine, related.

Now I can sometimes go a couple of days without coffee, with no effect. However, other times missing a day triggers a bad headache that is soon resolved with a cup of coffee.

I want my coffee first thing.. I drink two cups after I come back inside after taking my dog out. I don't want to eat anything after that till around 10am, and I don't drink coffee any more the rest of the day.

If for some reason, coffee is not available to me, I really miss it, but don't get a headache or any other symptoms of being decaffeinated that day.

I prefer a medium to dark roast with cream and sugar. I don't much care for flavored coffees. Coffee doesn't keep me awake, but if I drink it past 9:00 pm, I'll have to get up during the night to pee.

although I consumed more at work than you. I still make that pot, which today happened to be Peet's Columbia dark roast. I use a 4-cup machine and drink nearly the full 24 ounces. If I feel the need for a hot drink during the day, I have tea, usually decaffeinated.

When I worked gigs in DC after retirement, I would have several coffee's for the drive home in the wee hours.

After leaving my stressful job, my alcohol consumption gradually declined to next to nothing. Even though I didn't do what the doctor said to do, my blood pressure came down.

In my experience, heartaches and especially hangovers may require more coffee.

When I was working I used to drink 3 cups, too. (Well, the POT said it was 12, but my cup is BIG.)

For the past couple of years I've been using the San Francisco Bay French Roast pods from Costco for the Keurig. (These are now 100% compostable, including the packaging, so I'm not adding additional plastic to the waste stream.)

6 6-oz cups, per the markings on the coffee maker carafe.

One as soon as I get up, a 12-oz mug, then a 16-oz tumbler at work. If I really need it or have a meeting in the evening, I will have an additional 8 oz in the late afternoon but try to avoid it after 5:00 p.m.

I drink more of the stuff on the weekends.

I can't drink coffee, it runs right through me.

I'll drink sweet tea occasionally and have cut back on soda to 2-3 a week.

I'm hoping to get a prescription for Provigil and that should cut down on the Red Bull for my fatigue.

I often drink the last of it as I'm heading home, where I generally conk out within minutes.

I often don't have my first cup until after noon - whenever I get around to making it.

Not addicted, and - as near as I can tell - it has no impact on me.

My daughter experimented on me twice during her school years - no caffeine for 2 weeks (each time). The second time we measured AM/PM blood pressure, respiration rate, heart rate & tracked symptoms & compared it to the two weeks prior (when I was drinking 32-48 oz of coffee)

There was more change in all three measurements from morning to evening than there was from decaffeinated to caffeinated. No headaches or other withdrawal symptoms.

I just like coffee better than anything else without calories (and studies suggest it is healthier than things like artificially sweetened beverages)

That said, if i inherited my system from my mother I will soon reach the age at which caffeine will impact me. Then I'll have to decide what I want to do about it.

I've been working on a project away from home (in Texas) with a friend and she doesn't drink coffee. However, when I'm home in California and in more of a structured work situation, I normally drink two cups in the morning. I like my coffee with a healthy dose of half & half (or liquid creme of some type) and two packets of Stevia (if available - if not - Splenda).

A hot murky liquid has absolutely no appeal to me, not when I can savor delicious ice water.

I have ice water at least 8 times per day, regardless of locale or temperature. I wish I were attending the Winter Olympics this year and enjoying ice water on the slopes.

My only vague impression of what coffee must taste like is via coffee candy, which I have had a few times.

When I was a kid I would drink the last few sips my parents would leave in their cups on the table at breakfast. My favorite flavor of ice cream was coffee.

That said, I don't drink it all day long like I would when I was 20-30. I now mix half caf with a flavored coffee when. I make it in the morning. I drink 2 10 oz mugs with 1% milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar. I rarely stop for coffee out, although I like cappuccino after dinner.
