2017 did not end very well...

This is why I've been silent since Christmas. Since I used to post almost every day, I felt I owe you an explanation.

A bit of bad luck, a bottomless stupidity (mine) brought me to hospital because of pneumonia. Hopefully, it was not too serious but being asthmatic, I was hospitalized.

Most of the time, I have no crisis and almost forget being asthmatic. I have problems if I get bronchitis.

It happened because I had a problem with the central heating which also provide hot water. So, instead of waiting a few hours until the plumber fix the problem (as any reasonable person would do), I took a cold shower.

Before I could dry my hair, the postman knocked at the door to deliver a package. At the same time, my neighbor was going for shopping, he requested me advice about a trip he is planning to Algeria, a country were I lived a few years and that I know very well.

I told him to come in but he said he was already late...One hour later, we were still talking. With cold wind in my wet hair...

It did not take very long, I had coughing, had fever and of course, being the queen of cretinism, I did not call soon enough the doctor. This is how I ended in the emergency room in the middle of the night on 29 december.

I would say the new year started better : isn't it great to start a year lying in bed ? (Well, abstracting med, oxygen tent,...)

Doctors finally freed me after 4 long weeks and I'm gladly back at home.

I have absolutely no idea of what happened or not this last month. I'm just checking the latest news, it seems nothing changed much...

I took a quick look to the editorial cartoons, I have enough for 2 or 3 threads...

That's a long time. Scary. It's good to know you're home and doing better.

Now stop being so accommodating to everyone else and put yourself first when you need to.

If only...

On the bright side, it is sort of holiday : it is relaxing to not to hear from Trump...

You need to take better care of yourself! But I can identify, I planned to go away for Christmas, but never made it. I came down with the flu, finally dragged myself to the doctor on December 21st and between feeling awful and the frigid weather and serious snow, I didn't manage to leave the house for three weeks. I'm also asthmatic and it's been tough. That said, thanks for checking in, so glad to hear you're on the mend! Welcome back! We missed you!

I missed you too

I really appreciate DU and all of you I've met.

Well, it was really a bad chain of events. I'm usually more careful because I know the risks.

I wouldn't took a shower if I hadn't heat. The problem was only a boiler problem. Then, came my neighbor just when I opened the door to the postman...

Also, it was the holiday week and my doctor went on vacation.

I thought I could wait until he come back but when fever started and when I felt oppressed, I went to the emergency room. It was not too serious but because of the asthma and a serious problem in my childhood, they kept me in hospital. I stayed 2 years in a sanatorium because of an incipient tuberculosis. I completely recovered and live normally. I just have to pay attention if I got an infection. I never have crisis otherwise. Sport helped me a lot.

It is good to go back to habits I have more than 2 or 3 threads, now that I checked all the toons. A hole month of trumpism provides tons of caricatures...

And you have to be more careful, that sounds scary! I'm sorry that you have been through so much. I'm asthmatic, too, but it was worse when I was a child. And I have a nebulizer which I rarely use *knock on wood* but it's good to know I have it if I need it. And we've missed your cartoons, too! Trump continues to get worse every day.

I really missed your OPs which I am always looking for. We certainly need your collections of humor to keep US sane in drumpf's insane world. Take care of yourself and wishing you happiness as we forge ahead this year.

The price of stupidity...

Hopefully, the pneumonia was not too serious but because of the background, doctors (me too) prefer to not to unnecessary risks.
