What's your favorite Woody Allen movie?

Last edited Sun Jan 28, 2018, 03:59 PM - Edit history (2)

Commenting on "Sleeper," film critic Roger Ebert wrote:
"If the plot sounds slightly insane, recollect that one Allen movie began with Howard Cosell doing a play-by-play of an assassination, and another had Woody slapping Listerine under his arm and squirting Right Guard into his mouth before a big date."

Besides: (From Wikipedia)
"A months-long investigation by the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of Yale-New Haven Hospital concluded that Dylan (his 7-year-old daughter) had not been sexually assaulted."

In a deposition, the pediatrician who was on the team of investigators said that he thought Dylan had been "coached" by Mia Farrow.
Dylan's answers were "inconsistent"..i.e., She said one thing, then, later, she said something else.
If Allen had actually sexually assaulted her, shouldn't her answers to the Yale-New Haven Hospital team have been "consistent"?
Also, it was a couple of Farrow's housekeepers who alleged that Allen "might have sexually abused his daughter."

22. "Rape"??
Sat Jan 27, 2018, 09:44 PM
Jan 2018

What rape?
Did I miss something?
Was Woody Allen accused of rape?

As far as pedophilia goes...pedophilia is definitely NOT a "light hearted Matter"..

Do you know something that the local police and the Yale-New Haven Hospital Child Sexual Abuse Unit doesn't know?

If so, why don't you tell them?

THEY determined that Dylan was not molested!
THEY determined that Dylan's answers were "not consistent" (Why was that?)
The judge dismissed the case!

If you have any evidence that proves that Woody Allen molested his daughter, then you should come forward and notify the police.

Now, If you want to talk about REAL pedophilia and REAL child rape, go to the website of the woman who testified, under oath, in a US Federal Court deposition, that Donald J. Trump and his convicted pedophile friend, Jeffrey Epstein, raped her when she was 13-years-old.
Another woman also gave a deposition, under oath, that she witnessed the rape.
The President of the United States raped a 13-year-old girl and GOT AWAY WITH IT!
Why aren't you angry about that?

Are you're referring to her "CBS This Morning" interview with Gayle King which aired Jan 18, 2018?

If you are, then the Jan 18, 2018 New York Times article on that interview,
as well as the Jan 18, 2018 Washington Post article on that "CBS This Morning" interview,
also "missed his daughter Dylan Farrow accusing him of rape" because there is absolutely no mention of any rape allegation in either article.
If it were true, that is, if Dylan Farrow told Gayle King that Woody raped her when she was 7,
don't you think that the NYT and the WaPo articles of January 18 would have included that in their respective articles?
That would be big news, wouldn't it?
(Because of computer limitations, I'm unable to post links to the articles, but they both can easily be found using Google)
WaPo article title: "He's been lying for so long: Dylan farrow speaks out on her allegations against Woody Allen"
NYT article title: "Dylan Farrow Accuses Woody Allen of Sexual Abuse in TV Interview"

What WAS in the WaPo article was the following:
"New York state child welfare investigators and a Yale-New Haven Hospital report at the time found abuse DID NOT HAPPEN."

The New York Times article about the Gayle King interview never mentions any rape allegations by Dylan Farrow either.
However, it does say the following:
"Dr. John M. Leventhal, the doctor who led the investigation into Mr. Allen, interviewed Ms. Farrow nine times in 1992 and said that he FOUND INCONSISTENCIES in her story, even raising the possibility that she may have been 'coached' by her mother."

Speaking of Mia Farrow "coaching her daughter," Dylan's older brother Moses has said that he witnessed his mother doing exactly that - relentlessly coaching Dylan, trying to drum into her that her father was a dangerous sexual predator." (Same WaPo article of 1/18/2018)

If Woody Allen raped his 7-year-old daughter, wouldn't Dr. John M. Leventhal, the doctor who examined her, have found evidence of such a rape?

What is your source for suggesting that Dylan Farrow even said in that interview that Woody Allen raped her?
(I would like to see that).

37. Some facts ...
Sun Jan 28, 2018, 02:35 AM
Jan 2018

Woody Allen is 82, and his career spans over sixty years. He has never been accused of molesting any child - OTHER THAN the accusation leveled by Mia Farrow, who made the accusation in the midst of a very bitter humiliating break-up.

As we all know, pedophiles cannot control their sexual impulses, and are repeat offenders – and yet Allen has never been accused of such behaviour before or since the incidents that Farrow alleged.

Not a single person has ever come forward to make similar accusations, or even to suggest seeing or hearing anything untoward in Allen’s behaviour at any time.

Farrow, on the other hand, has never been a stranger to lying and being deceitful, especially where her own interests are concerned. She betrayed one of her closest friends, Dory Previn, and had an affair with her husband, Andre Previn, who later left his wife for Farrow.

In 2013, Farrow revealed that her son with Allen, Satchel (now Ronan), was “possibly the child of Frank Sinatra” – which means she was unfaithful to Allen and, despite being unsure of his parentage, passed the boy off as Allen’s child.

Allen started a relationship with Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi, when she was 19 – not a “child”. They never had a father-daughter relationship – Allen never even lived in the same home as Farrow’s adoptive children and those of her previous relationships. Allen and Soon-yi have now been married for decades, without a hint of scandal.

The case of molestation against Allen was dismissed, the judge having found that Dylan, the child he’d allegedly molested, had been coached by her mother.

So if you believe that Allen is guilty, you are basing that on a SINGLE accusation by a child who had been coached by a very bitter, vindictive Farrow – a woman whose own lies and erratic behaviour was well-known.

Those are the facts – but don’t let them get in the way of the ludicrous idea that an 82-year-old “pedophile” with a lengthy, high-profile career has managed to escape detection his entire adult life.

Sun Jan 28, 2018, 05:27 PM
Jan 2018

Mia Farrow's brother, John Villiers-Farrow pled guilty and was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2013 for sexually abusing two boys for over eight years.

"Businessman John Villiers-Farrow pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse after he was handed down 39 charges for the molestation of the boys who were his neighbors in Maryland in 2002. He pleaded guilty in July so he could get a lighter sentence but has always asserted his innocence. His sentence was suspended for 15 years, which means Villiers-Farrow will spend at least the next ten years in jail."

....

"The first victim moved near to Villiers-Farrow’s home when he was six-years-old, and came to know the family because they had a son who was a few years younger than him. The victim spent a lot of time at the family's home and Villiers-Farrow would buy him gifts, take him to baseball games and on other trips, the arrest document states. Prosecutors said that it was when the boy was between the ages of nine and 16 that he abused him regularly. In the same time period, a second boy who was friends with the first victim, was abused about a dozen times over five years, Deputy State Attorney Kathleen Rogers said. The victims told police that he would show them pornographic movies. The encounters escalated to touching and then to oral sex."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2478439/John-Villers-Farrow-Mia-Farrows-brother-jailed-sexually-abusing-2-boys.html

I don't know if Dylan was or wasn't abused by Allen or anyone else for that matter. But I find it interesting that I've never seen any statements by Mia, Ronan or Dylan discussing JVF.

I watched Manhattan recently, to see if I still found it funny. I didn't. He just seems like the ultimate narcissist. Ronan believes his sister and that's good enough for me. Considering that he and Dylan will be disinherited, they had pretty good motivation to recant, but they haven't.

BTW, he really did have an affair with a teenager while he was making Annie Hall.

FWIW, I was molested as a child, as was my mother, so I'm sure that colors my perception.

I haven't watched a Polanski film since Chinatown either.

Terrific performances all around, but Judy Davis is magnificent.

Great camera work, and tThe dialogue, as always, is superb. I also love Sydney Pollack in this role.

Strictly speaking, none of the characters is likable, but they are generally sympathetic to some degree or another.

And Allen himself gives a surprisingly self-effacing role. His writing professor character Gabe becomes involved with a much, much younger student, but it doesn't work out well, and Gabe seems to realize only too late that he is chiefly responsible for his own interpersonal failings.
