I have never even heard of the Pipkins…And now I'm going to spend the rest of the day researching them.

Because he had three songs in the top ten under three different "bands" at the same time. The producers thought it would look strange if he kept showing up on stage during a single episode.

Obviously, an amazing talent. His American counterpart was probably Ron Dante, another studio whiz kid who had hits with The Archies (for which he sang ALL of the vocals and harmonies--even the female parts) and the Cuff Links.

I, like you, am a fan of the "lost" music of the 60s and 70s--songs that were hugely popular at the time they came out, but you will never hear them played on Classic Rock(tm) or Oldies(tm) stations today.

Most of the stations now play the same stuff ad infinitum! No DJs and the music is all preprogrammed! 😢

Forty years, at least. It's only gotten worse and worse over time. Corporate radio is targeted at immediate listens.

So now, between commercial breaks, we can hear another rendition of "Nights in White Satin", by the Moody Blues, for the 545,768th time, despite the fact that they produced a lot of other songs that are as good or better, that we all might like to listen to.
