He's so smart that he discovers knew toys all the time. I think it is half to keep me interested in playing with him and half the joy of discovery for him. So I picked the cardboard stick up off of my bedspread and whipped it around for cat 1 to play with. Cat 2, Twilight, was watching keenly but not participating as she defers to Hughey. Once Hughey had exhausted himself I then played with Twilight, who must have had built up adrenaline because I am now bleeding. I forgot that I keep her claws long and Hughey's short to rebalance power between them. I think I must have the lowest ranking in the house now. But i will regain my position as can opener god tomorrow. LOL! (Socialism hurts !!! )

(118,778 posts)he was a kitten. He pretty much ignores his proper toys these days. He seems to like to look into garbage cans for new and fun things to play with. His great aunt did get him two new plush balls to play with. The morning after I gave them to him I woke up with both of them on my bed. He would have been dropping them on my face in the middle of the night to get me to wake up and play. He brings me thing to play fetch too. Figured that out on his own.

(118,778 posts)pestering me. He thinks him baiting me and me fake disciplining him is a fun game we must play every night. I say arghhh to him then. It is appropriate because his name when I got him from the humane society through a pet store they had named him Captain Morgan.

(23,741 posts)She's 11. Was a feral kitten, maybe 4 month old when I found her collapsed in my neighbors driveway. She was dehydrated and temporarily had no strength in her rear legs. First few years I bought her all types of toys to play with and she feigned interest the first few years, then she gave up even pretending to like to play. Won't do empty boxes or paper bags. Pretty much sleeps during the winter months and in the warmer months loves going out on the lanai searching for lizards. When she finds one will bring it in and lay it at my feet.
So while she isn't a playful cat, or for that matter even an affectionate cat she must be in the same room I'm in and if she can't see me she'll howl for me until I make an appearance.
But she's my pal and wouldn't trade her for anything.
