because although they are cute, they are not friendly. They are said to be quite fierce, and capable of killing animals twice their size. But there are not many in zoos because they don't breed well in captivity. There is no chance they will ever become popular pets. They bite.

This video is on their site too.
It is the largest big cat sanctuary in the world. Located just outside of Tampa, FL over about 70 acres. I love watching their daily walkabout videos.
