Scarlett Johansson will be asked, by multiple reporters at every press junket, about the possibility that the Black Widow will ever get her own movie. With a complex background that has been revealed in bits and pieces over her supporting appearances in the MCU, fans have never had a chance to see the character on her own.
But according to Variety, that is changing, and Natasha Romanoff will be getting a chance to take center-stage in her own stand-alone film, penned by Jac Schaeffer.
Marvel is finally pushing ahead with the highly anticipated Black Widow standalone movie starring Scarlett Johansson, with Jac Schaeffer penning the script.
Sources say this is still very early development, as the film has no greenlight, but naming a writer is the closest the studio has come to moving forward on a standalone pic. Marvel President Kevin Feige met with several candidates before tapping Schaeffer, and Marvel execs met with Johansson to discuss what they wanted from a Black Widow writer.

Can't wait for this movie to happen - it's about frigging time!
Of course, a lot of comic book fans think the upcoming JLaw movie "Red Sparrow" sounds suspiciously like the comic book origin of Black Widow.
